Hello Jonathan, could you tell us a bit about yourself?<\/em><\/h3>\n

I\u2019m 23 years old and I\u2019m a full stack web developer, which basically means that I can build a website from start to finish. I also have expertise in using Content Management Systems, such as WordPress<\/a>. Content Management Systems are tools that are used to create webpages and they allow for dynamic updates of website content. I also have an expert knowledge of computer languages such as PHP, Javascript, and Python, as well as HTML and CSS.<\/p>\n

What did you do to become a web developer?<\/em><\/h3>\n

After completing 1\u00e8re<\/sup> Scientifique specialising in mathematics [year 12 Science Track], I changed fields and did another year of 1\u00e8re<\/sup> [Science and Industrial Technologies, and Sustainable Development] [sciences et technologies de l\u2019industrie et du d\u00e9veloppement durable] Specialisation: Digital and information systems I have always been interested in this field. I even began programming at a very young age. In secondary school, programme design classes always fascinated me.<\/p>\n

While others used calculators to cheat, I used to programme tools that solved the entire problem. Ultimately, programming is very mathematic. After my A levels, I enrolled in TSI [Technology and industrial sciences] university preparatory classes. [Technologies et Sciences Industrielles], and my chosen specialities were supplementary maths and specialised maths. I wanted to apply to engineering schools, but admission to the competitions is expensive.<\/p>\n

Therefore, I searched for a training programme in the field of web developing and completed a 2 year course in web developing at ARIES in Grenoble<\/a>. During the first year, we dealt with page layout using tools like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign before dealing with programming languages. I didn\u2019t have to do this part because I already had extensive knowledge of these programmes, which is why I started with programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript during the first year.<\/p>\n

In second year, the course concentrated on web developing, either PHP scripting language \u201cobject-oriented\u201d that allows for more effective and dynamic site management, thanks to the creation of a toolbox that\u2019s used for multiple projects. This scripting languages also allows you to apply modifications to an entire website.<\/p>\n

How did you end up as a web developer at <\/span>ACSTraduction<\/a> <\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

I wanted to find a work placement during my second year. ACSTraduction<\/a> were looking for help developing their websites<\/a> and had got in contact with my school, who recommended me, given that I already had some professional experience in this area. I was very interested, it was related to the work I was doing at ARIES, and I also had the knowledge to carry out this project. So, I went for it.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the difference between a computer engineer and a web developer?<\/em><\/h3>\n

A computer engineer learns more programming languages than a web developer. A computer engineer has a master\u2019s degree and can do everything in terms of developing because all programming languages are structurally similar to the ones that they study. A Web developers are more like technicians who work with the languages that they already have extensive knowledge of, but they can always learn new languages independently.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the difference between a graphic designer and a web developer?<\/em><\/h3>\n

Graphic designers deal with the aesthetic parts, the graphic charter, the visual identity of the company.<\/p>\n

Web developers deal with the creation and updating of the website. So, at times, we do end up working together.<\/p>\n

What have you done since joining ACSTraduction?<\/em><\/h3>\n

I\u2019ve restructured and updated all three of ACSTraduction\u2019s websites, as well as repairing some bugs, especially bugs concerning the theme of the website [style] and the plug-ins that the site uses. I\u2019ve collaborated with the business WPML<\/a> on a daily basis, as well as with the graphic designer that works for ACSTraduction, but also with Daphn\u00e9 Charpin-L\u00e8bre<\/a>, professional client manage, and Sophie Andr\u00e9, manager of the online shop.<\/p>\n

They have supervised the design so that it can be best adapted to the needs of ACSTraduction. I also help the team with any day-today tech problems. Computer maintenance isn\u2019t my job, but I\u2019m happy to lend a hand especially when it\u2019s an area that I know well.<\/p>\n

Do you have any future web developing projects?<\/em><\/h3>\n

I\u2019d like to continue web developing and perfect my knowledge of Python, especially in order to accompany ACSTraduction in their ventures into the development of artificial intelligence. After that, I\u2019d like to move to Qu\u00e9bec and work for a web agency for example.<\/p>\n

What are the qualities of a good web developer?<\/em><\/h3>\n

It is very important to be independent, to persevere, and to be enthusiastic. Being a web developer means dedicating time and having great research skills, as well as communication skills, for example, asking questions and listening to your clients\u2019 needs.<\/p>\n

What do you like the most about your job?<\/em><\/h3>\n

I really like the independence of this job and being able to organise myself. This job requires a very methodical organisation, a lot of discipline and precision.<\/p>\n

What clich\u00e9 relating to your profession would you like to clear up?<\/em><\/h3>\n

Creating a website takes a lot of time, it can\u2019t be done in a day!<\/p>\n
